Soul Satisfaction by Debra Evans
We were created with a need for love…perfect love. The only place we can find fulfillment for that longing is in God’s Song, Jesus. Yet, too many times we try to satisfy our soul’s longings with other things—people, work, entertainment, etc….These will only leave us with a great sense of our need and deepen our craving. Debra Evans helps her readers understand their basic needs and then gives biblical principles to help them find the true satisfaction their souls crave. She provides journaling opportunities and questions that will allow the reader to go as deep as they dare.

There are times in life that we find ourselves walking through a storm or hardship. It is in these times that our hearts need to find stability in our good God. Elyse Fitzpatrick takes her readers through Psalm 57 and helps them find the steadfastness and stability they need in the hard times. This book will help you gain a new appreciation for the storms of life as well as for the One who gives us hope in their midst.

Gripped by the Greatness of God by James MacDonald
Based on a series Pastor James studied with his congregation, this book looks at several characteristics that God reveals about Himself throughout the book of Isaiah. Just reading the introduction is enough to make you want to read this book! It’s a great book to use in your personal Bible study time, or just to read. You will definitely want to allow the words of Isaiah to sink deep and impact your heart and mind. This is a stirring and life-changing book because when we are confronted with who God is…we must respond!

The Christian’s Secret of a Happy Life by Hannah Whitall Smith
This classic is a must read. It holds the timeless truth for each of us to find a life of “inward rest and outward victory.” Hannah Whitall Smith communicates clearly and practically what the life with Christ is supposed to be, and how that can be a reality in our everyday life.

Humility: True Greatness by C.J. Mahaney & Joshua Harris
I don’t know anyone personally who could write a book on humility and keep their credibility in tact by the end. But C.J. Mahaney has done just that. This small book is packed with practicality and what humility looks like in real life. Our culture is constantly trying to find a way to gain an edge—to be better than our opponent or competition. Mahaney reminds us that Jesus said true greatness is found through humility.

The Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer
This classic will give you plenty to think about as Tozer talks you through the attributes of God. This writing is not limited to mere facts—giving a list of attributes of God and their definitions. Tozer urges you to consider who your God is and how you might respond to Him. You will want to take your time through this wonderfully thought-provoking work. By itself, or as a complement to another study, this book will challenge and encourage your heart to know your God.

Don’t Waste Your Life by John Piper
I would guess that each of us wants to have our lives count…not just exist, but really matter. In this book Piper challenges his readers to live whole-heartedly with only one purpose in mind—God’s glory. He gives one of the best practical working definitions I’ve read or heard and then helps his readers understand how that plays out in real life. This book will encourage you and give you some tools to be an active participant in every day of your life.

When You Don’t Desire God by John Piper
This book is not limited in its scope to those who are struggling in their walk. On the contrary, Piper helps each of his readers to more fully understand the concept of joy—what it is and that it is worth fighting for. In fact, he goes so far as to say we all need to be actively involved in that battle. But then gives the weaponry necessary for the fight. Don’t wait until you feel like you fit the title to read this book, start winning the fight for joy now!
